Iris II - Night-sky, 2001, 24" x 37"

Note - while the majority of my pieces are created by building up the surface of each object (a flower, or a dragonfly, etc.) in a piece with thread and then appliquéing that piece to the background this is an example of one of my whole-cloth quilts. In these I paint my design on a white piece of fabric with thickened fiber reactive dyes. Then I embellish the piece with thread drawing.
